Earth is our sanctuary to roam, which is why we decided to walk lighter…

We set out in naiveté with hopes, dreams and lots of enthusiasm and soon realised that in the course of the Rose’s journey, there were mysterious obstacles, disappointments and failures. But despite the thorny path we kept marching confidently, with a mission –and that is, to adhere to our moral code of conduct, which includes: environmental, ethical and social welfares.

the art of block–printing…

We’ve established an alternative model by reviving a traditional textile method in collaboration with skilled artisans in rural India. Patterns are sketched in Europe and then carved by hand on a piece of wood in India using simple metal tools, chisels and hammers. The fabric is then tied by hand, using a string to create waterproof zones. Then craftsmen stamp the fabric with the side of the hand, always in the exact spot with no colour bleeding and subsequently line up the patterns perfectly.

appachi cotton and natural dyes

We use Appachi Ecologic Cotton (free from pesticides and fertilizers), where spinning and weaving is done by hand on ancient wood spindles and machines, resulting in the finest and lightest cloths. We also use natural, plant-based dyes: reds are extracted from madder root and blues from indigo. Which is why, we advice to wash our clothes in cold water. Any variations that occur during this block–printing artisanal technique, enhance the unique quality of the product and are not to be treated as defects.
